One two-month voyage circling the Land Down Under is being halted in the wake of the tragic passing of an elderly woman who was abandoned by the cruise liner on a remote island.

The passenger had been hiking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the party for a break. The liner left without her and came back several hours later after the crew became aware the lady was missing.

An extensive rescue mission discovered her remains the subsequent day.

Authorities are investigating the tragedy, alongside investigators and the medical examiner.

Chief Executive of the voyage organizer announced that travelers and crew on the ship were told that the rest of the voyage had been terminated due to the "unfortunate death and earlier mechanical issues".

Via official communication, he mentioned that travelers would be issued a complete reimbursement, and said the operator was working "to coordinate the homeward trips of the individuals via specially arranged planes".

Officials also released an revised announcement, and said they had "provided a directive to the Commander" prohibiting any further travelers from getting on the vessel.

The official said that they would visit the liner in the Australian city upon its return.

The ship initially left the Australian port on October 24th, and was merely two days into the journey at the point of the 80-year-old's passing. The remote island was the opening port on the journey.

Travelers on the ship - who generally pay large sums of dollars to join the cruise - were taken there for a daily excursion with the choice of trekking or snorkelling.

Family Reaction

The child of the victim said that her relatives was "stunned and saddened that the ship left the location after an organised excursion without my mum".

Via her announcement, she portrayed her mother as an "vigorous octogenarian" who was a participant of a walking organization.

"According to scant facts we have been provided, it seems that there was a lapse of responsibility and basic judgment," she mentioned.

She added that she hoped the examination would be able to determine what "the company should have undertaken that might have saved Mother's existence".

"Based on information from the authorities that it was a very hot afternoon, and mother took sick on the hill climb," she revealed.

"She was asked her to head down, alone. Then the ship departed, apparently without performing a passenger count.

"At a certain moment in that process, or shortly after, she succumbed, by herself."

Organization Position

Through an announcement, the Head affirmed that the organization was "working closely with authorities to support their investigation".

He mentioned that the firm was "very regretful that this has occurred" and had extended its complete assistance to the relatives.

Cruise Industry Standards

The liner serves up to 120 guests with nearly fifty crew, according to official details. It was specially constructed to reach isolated areas of the Australian coast and is equipped with "small boats" - compact vessels used to transport travelers on day excursions.

Events like this are rare, and liners have systems to document which individuals are boarding or getting off, according to industry experts.

"Leaving covertly or [back] on the ship simply isn't an choice," an authority remarked.

Vessel operators regard these procedures very seriously and have "sophisticated systems in place to prevent such occurrences from taking place," the specialist continued.
